New page

G. R. = Grand Raid

G.R. : Only Barrie Price, to my knowledge, gave this name to a type of frame,

The denomination Grand Raid was especially given to the 57221 for Paris-Nice, and others by analogy. This nomination does not appear on the documents of factory consulted and specified in reference by Conway. (Files of the factory of Molsheim)

For the 57221:

Type 57 G.R. Roadster Gangloff

or

Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid Gangloff

I think that that specifies the same thing

no : Type 57 G.R. Roadster Grand Raid Gangloff

In 1935: a test of T57 sporting was carried out under the name of 57 GR. (Grand Raid). Two Bugatti were committed in Tourist Trophy of this same year 1935, and became of T57 TT, then the sporting and flattened version of the 57 is called T57 S and will become T57 SC in 1936.
